However you do it, tell them to ease up on the drink
When we drink too much there are impacts on ourselves and the people around us – our close friends and family members, the people that work with us and the people we are part of teams with.
While the people around us often want to do or say something to help us see what’s happening as a result of drunkeness, knowing what to do and how to do it in an effective, caring and safe way can be difficult.
Through ALAC’s national marketing campaign, we’re aiming to provide people with the confidence and tools to do things to look after each other around alcohol – from the way they set up and ‘host’ social occasions at home through to how they can talk to someone they care about if they’re concerned about their drinking.
The role of marketing
Marketing is one of the tools ALAC uses in its work to reduce the harm that comes from drunkeness.
Launched in 2004, ALAC’s national marketing campaign has taken New Zealander’s on a journey of seeing the harm and costs that come from people drinking too much and seeing the role their drinking, or the drinking of the people they care about plays in this.
ALAC’s marketing supports our work in policy and legislation, supporting community action and working with other agencies and organisations to address alcohol-related harm in New Zealand.
